Behind the music:

8-bit music, also known as chiptune, originated in the 1980s with the sound chips of vintage computers and gaming consoles like the Commodore 64 and the Nintendo Entertainment System. These chips could only produce a limited range of simple waveforms, such as square waves and noise, which created the genre’s distinctive, pixelated sound. Artists manipulate these limitations to craft complex and nostalgic melodies that have a signature “blip-bloop” texture. Today, 8-bit music lives on both in retro video game soundtracks and in modern electronic music, where it inspires a creative blend of old-school and contemporary sounds.
