“Black and White Rag” was composed by George Botsford in 1908 and became one of the most popular ragtime piano pieces. It gained even more fame in the 1950s when used as the theme for the TV show Snooker. The piece features fast, syncopated rhythms typical of ragtime. It was originally published as sheet music before being recorded. Its catchy style made it a favorite for both pianists and early jazz bands.
