Waltz in D-flat major, Op. 64, No. 1, commonly known as the “Minute Waltz,” was composed by Frédéric Chopin in 1847. Despite its nickname, the waltz is not intended to be played in one minute; the “minute” refers to its small or miniature size. Typically, it takes about one and a half to two minutes to perform. The piece is renowned for its lively tempo, flowing and elegant melody, and technical demands on the pianist. It is a staple in the classical piano repertoire, often performed both in concert settings and for personal enjoyment.
