Behind the Mongolian Chant:

Mongolian throat singing, or “Khoomei,” is a traditional vocal style where singers produce multiple pitches at once. It often mimics sounds of nature, like wind or flowing water. The technique is passed down through generations, especially in rural herding communities. There are several styles, including Sygyt (high whistling tone) and Kargyraa (deep growl). It’s still practiced today and recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage.
